I have a vehicle spinning tires as it takes off and I need to add some tire smoke. Not a huge billowing burnout but some smoke. The vehicle starts from a side view but as it takes off it goes sideways.
I have FumeFX plugin for 3ds Max but I don't have the time (days) it will take me to learn and do it.
So for now the best solution seems to be to find some keyed footage and use it. I've looked but can't find any.
The other option would be to hire a 3D guy to make some.

I think you will have a hard time finding a decent key on a largely translucent substance :/

    Yes I know

I was hoping someone had tried to do it somewhere.
I find lots of billowing smoke, cigarette smoke, explosion smoke etc but none of that moves like tire smoke

Maybe check this (some of it could be sped up & positioned differently upon each other to create layered substance/variety):

You could probably, maybe, make some smoke assets work. Possibly by adding some distortion to curve it around the tire. The perspective change sounds like the real trick, but that might be surmountable if you adjust some copies of the asset(s) in 3d space.

Thanks everyone. The challenge is my shot is pretty wide of the entire vehicle with a lot of space behind it and most of the smoke assets are relatively close up and therefore go off the screen causing issues for my shot. I looked at a bunch online and I dug through my video stock from years back and may have found some that when combined will work. Have to render it out in full speed to see if it looks realistic.
Looks like there is a void for this so maybe in the future I can make some with FumeFX if I can find time
