I have been shooting in shutter priority (video camera symbol with S) on my panasonic gx85. I set iso to auto as exposure varies.

My question is, does aperture default to the widest open value before auto iso pumps up the iso value?

    Thanks for any input.

Good question...I would assume so, but can't confirm.

An e-mail to Panasonic is likely best if the information isn't clear in the manual, but I'd also take a variety of test shots and examine the EXIF data to see if there are any discrepancies from favorable & similar conditions that should provide the same results (i.e. f/1.8 vs. f/5.6).

If you control the camera via the iOS app (maybe the android one too) - it will show you on screen the Aperture values it selects, unlike the back screen.

I did try looking at the exif, and i suppose because the aperture us changing it does not display. I think that is why anyway.

Thank you both. This may be the solution then. I will check out the behavior in the app i do use it on occasion but not much as it sucks battery.
