Once you start making films other filmmakers will come out of the woodwork and help with your next film. Another thing writers can do once your longer firm script is in shape is grab a couple of actors or models or friends that resemble your idea of the characters and shoot stills. Don't spend a lot of money or time on this. It will give a visual idea to possible collaborators what your vision is. It also elevates you to another level of seriousness that may encourage someone on the fence to get involved.
