    looks great on many levels.

my "only" wait and see issue will be for the much smaller 1" chip to offer the ability to suck in light as it's m4/3, aps and full frame breathren.

    thumbs up.

I guess people continue to buy these cameras because they keep making them (and asking crazy money).

That's isn't "crazy money" for the features it provides.

If you're stuck in the 90s it's not.

This is a big feature set for Canon. Pretty much everything one would want in this style camera. I think $7,000 will be a tough sell though. I would like to know if 120p has audio and unlimited time recording. In an event situation, I would love the ability to shoot in 120p at 1/60th shutter with audio. This would allow you slow motion capability throughout all of your footage while letting you shoot normally. I bet it does not do this but they just do not get it that you do not have the ability to choose what is going to be slomo during a sporting event.

6 lbs is a bit heavy as well for long term hand holding. Would rather see this at 5 or below.

Hope Panasonic shows up with the PX270 upgrade.

h265 HEVC is the main reason for the recording change. Be interesting to see when others adopt this codec. GH5's have h265 but only for selected recording formats . No reason it could not be used for others. Means harder decode for editing though.

Its is not a competitor because the 280 has a fundamental flaw in a story telling camera that the lens is not wide enough to tell stories. (IMO)

Some of me is excited about this camera as being close to 'what I want' .. but also unexited as it has half the frame rate in HD and the same frame rate in UHD as my current 4 your old camera (FS7) and costs nearly as much.

I agree. This is the flaw of the (otherwise impressive) new Sony.

Canon have got a major advantage here with this approach. I suspect it’ll do very well, despite the slightly high price. But I still want to see low light performance before I jump ship from my (mostly) Sony cams.

    Cache record.

Sound in HFR would be great for me.

My FS7 forgets cache record when I exit the Sq feature.. if cache record is remembered that would be great.

These small things make a huge difference under the pressure of one time actuality filming.
