Firmware 3.01 for the X-T3 was released yesterday. Scroll down the page from the link below to find it...

It doesn't address the auto focus issue apparently.

Me too and I have been doing the same thing, letting the AF acquire focus then shutting off the AF, except when using gimbal. In moving shots you don't notice it as much but in lock offs, it's bad.

Could you please explain what is happening with the auto focus issue?

The speed was never the problem; it's the adjustments.

Give it a "patience test"...sit in front of the camera for a while with face-tracking on, and when reviewing the footage look at the background (preferably bokeh or lights growing and shrinking).

The camera has lost its tolerance to make a decision and stick with it.

What NorBro said. It won't lock AF, it micro hunts all over the place, all of the time, regardless of sensitivity and speed settings. No way to mitigate it other than to turn it off. They'll fix it. Remember, Fuji is a still oriented company that really is just learning about video. This bug doesn't affect still shooting, in still, it locks, you snap your still and it will be in focus. It's only sucking for us video people as the camera seems to never just lock, it's "overthinking" the focusing basically. They'll get it right, hopefully in the next update. If you get a Fuji and it has the older 2X firmware, XT-3, DON'T update it to 3.0 because you cannot reverse the FW updates.

Yes, this. I kind of screwed myself on a shoot the other day because I got lucky on a few shoots with the AF. Not this time. Hopefully I can salvage something...

Major firmware updates (and a few other things) to be announced/demoed at Fujifilm X Summit in Shibuya, Tokyo on the 20th September.
