    Sony have done this for the F5/55 in spades .. up to V9.. you could argue they were not ready to be for sale V1.. but they have released huge improvements.. esp the 4K in the F5.. although this was forced upon them to some extent !.. but nonetheless those of us with that camera have had a great run of firmware updates over 5 years or so..

    Yes Arri plays that game the best. Us F5 owners made out pretty well, I'll have to admit.

    The FS7mk1 probably already killed "most" of the F5 sales as it is.
    (not all though, but that is all there is left for the FS7mk3 to then do?)

    But the F5 and F55 are both due to get successors as well. I can see an S35 version of the VENICE replacing the F55 and maybe they’ll let the FS line take the F5’s place... I also think whatever is replacing the F55 is gonna get e-mount... so the whole video line-up will merge a bit...

    The biggest advances Sony could make are:
    1- A new color system for Cine EI that allowed white balancing, Kelvin and Green/Magenta adjustments
    2- Add the XAVC 480 Codec
    3- Add Sgamut Cine in Custom & Slog2
    4- Change Menus so the viewfinder would display the name of the LUT in VF ( this would be easy)
    5- Sharper VF
    6 - phase detection auto focus
