Fingers crossed Sony hasn't bought into the hype and will keep the FS9 an industry standard S35 sensor.

There are just SO many lenses that we all own that won't work on a full frame sensor, so what would be the benefit?

In fact, I'd argue that some of the very best lenses on the market are incompatible with FF: Cooke S4's, any of the Fuji Cabrio zooms, Canon's cine zooms, etc.

    What am I missing here?

That one of the great benefits of a larger sensor, is that it’s format agnostic.

Don’t want to use full-frame glass? Don’t. Shoot the camera in super 35mm mode. It’s that simple. You lose nothing by having the larger sensor, you simply gain the option of better image quality (if you want it)

I dunno, most of Sony’s own lenses in recent times have been FF lenses... I’m personally looking forward to taking advantage of those lenses in combination with the AF from the A7 cameras...
The 28-135 PZ f4 will finally have a perfect camera to match it...
The FS7 will remain as a S35 option...

Just shoot F4.. its not a problem if you want an S35 look!

    F4 lenses are cheap.

ps I think the canon looks very very good. I guess the sony will be not as good but 2/3 the price.
Yeah, but I want Full Frame at F/1.4. Try doing that on S35:-)

Oh, and I want anamorphic options.

    And 4K at 120fps.

    And...

The FS5/7 can already do a full-frame 1.4 look with a Speedbooster in the mix. Kind of a staple on some subjects.

As for an actual FF sensor... If it indeed has dual native ISO, closing down to 5.6-8 for general shooting should be pretty inconsequential.

Glad I didn’t pull the trigger on that FS7 M2 yet after all
