    YouTube is now aspect ratio neutral

    For instance 4:3 sources can now be rendered without black bars!
    When you upload with the correct AR the effect is immediate.
    But it seems that YouTube also checks for videos with black bars in the background and re-renders them, but those will be in a queue and be only available in the future.

    I noticed this a few weeks ago...they've also taken old 4:3 videos and converted them back too (in other words it's not just for anything uploaded after the update).

    The only ones that can't be changed are the ones with 4:3 material edited on a 16:9 timeline as YouTube doesn't know that.
