The GH5 2K is significantly sharper, here are updated DaVinci Resolve single-node settings to simulate the Alexa OLPF:

The GH5 adds a lot of artificial sharpening to it's image that can't be turned off in the picture profile menu settings. Sharpness is not the same as resolution and again the GH5 is not a 4k camera in resolution terms.

Those OLPF settings are, in effect, an inverse sharpening algorithm

The actual resolved detail of the 5 2K is really good

(Clarification: the 5 2K is sharper than the Alexa 2K, which prioritizes smoothness)

    Hi.

    Interesting, Sage.

    Runned this test: https://www.mediafire.com/convkey/9d....jpg?size_id=d

original GH5 2k and the 4k to 2k downconverted version are closer to your Alexa smoothness emulation than the original GH5 4k

Interesting test. Thank you for this. I would love to see a similar test but with a wide lens shooting at inifinity focus with plenty of horizontal and vertical lines going through the image. The more fine detail, the better.

I will definitely do that next week (too busy right now).

But those image samples are extracted from a larger frame. That bar code you see on the image, originally it's a small part of the frame. Maybe not sufficiently small, but I reckon a wider frame with smaller details won't be bad. Let's see.
