GH4 Audio Playback When HDMI Connected to External Monitor

When I play back video with recorded audio when my GH4 is connected to an external monitor (IKAN Vk71) via HDMI I cannot hear the audio. I have to unplug the HDMI cable or power down the monitor to hear it. Why is that?

I have this same issue and was wondering if you ever get an answer for this? My best guess has been that it is because it is sending the audio to the monitor via the HDMI and unless your monitor has a speaker you wont hear anything.
