Looks like upgrades to the HM200 & HM 170 cameras:

Great design for a specific use. I would be interested to see how the image looks and how much image controls are in the menu.

The LS300's J-Log is really underrated...wish they would have added it in these cameras for people who may be interested and looking for one of these types of cams to shoot a few sports games with - which are usually during the day after school or on weekends in the bright sun (very small amount of night games for teams exist...and I guess your location matters too) - and would like some more grading flexibility.

I was about to purchase the HM 170 and cannot figure what is "new" in the HM 180.

It is very unclear there is any change at all, so I am wondering if I should save $250 by getting the old version?

    Anybody have any clues?

    Thanks!

The HM180 has SDI (and HDMI), which is the main reason for the higher price. Both cameras are 99% identical but there may be something else different with the 180, not sure. But the SDI is the main feature difference. HM170 has HDMI only.
