That was a rare incident with the 2.5K which has a built-in battery...I remember that video and have never seen anyone else say their BM camera overheated or "exploded".

If you put a handle under it like an old 8mm camera, then you could put a battery in the handle to give you a longer run time.

    Nope.

You do prove a point though :-)

Thatís a lithium battery fault. Not anything to do with overheating. (Though lithium fires are very very hot)

The funny thing is that they already have all good quality components- an articulate screen from UM, the VF from UM, the side handle from the UM, just pick the right ones for video camera for crying out loud!!
Oh for cryin' out loud...it's $1,295!!!
You don't get this wish list on any camera costing three times as much!
They already have all that - it's called the URSA Mini Pro.

Let's say they added all this wish list stuff BACK into this camera - just how BIG do you think it would be then? And how much would it cost then?

^100%...it's the BMPCC 4K, not the UMP. Completely different cameras for different minds.

They made a design/marketing decision that a big stationary screen was better than a smaller articulating one...even though onboard power is at a premium. Articulating screens have been on cheap camcorders going back decades, it's hard to imagine the costs are prohibitive.
"Oh for cryin' out loud", could have done that and priced at $1,500.

Actually its a $999 camera. If you want a flip out screen theres a much lauded camera that has one for $2000. 'Oh for crying out loud' is apt for the amazing amount of whinning going on about what the camera should have.
