haha, he changed it so people might miss that "inside joke" -- gear matters...but just a little now...story. is. everything.

    I'll stay tuned, anyway.
    Different tools for different purposes.

I bought an XT-2 because the stills it produces are ridiculous.

I bought 2 GH5's because the video they produce is spectacular.

Yes, I was guessing something like that, but it was still funny...
Personally I'd rather use just one system at any point in time (one set of lenses, one UI to be able to use without thinking), but I'm just an amateur, many pros are required to work with different systems all the time, so for them it would be much less of an issue.

Agreed!...S35 is the standard, and will probably always be, for perhaps the simplest reason of all...it's very slow and expensive to shoot on a sensor like the Alexa 65 or in the case of some films, 70mm in the old days...opening lenses up, the DOF becomes ridiculously shallow, so getting anything in focus takes a lot of time...and if you land up closing down for a sufficiently deep DOF to be practical, why bother with the far greater additional expense...I think taking The Revenant for example, the amount shot on the 65 in the whole film would disappoint the FF proponents...there are very few Christopher Nolans in the world (yes I know he did not direct The Revenant)...anyway...an image is an image...step forward a few steps with a smaller sensor camera and the same lens and the image becomes S35...so....if you light and shoot narrative, I think it becomes irrelevant at some point...cameras are almost reaching the maxing out point...it really is just down to the crew and the story these days IMO. Of course...that's really never changed!

PS...I doubt very strongly the new Panny announcement is a low light GH5....after such an incredible release as the GH5, another one this soon and then especially after the EVA hardly seems like Panasonic's style.

Its more likely a GH5R like they did with the GH4 and GH4R - A paid firmware related update that you can either buy the new camera or update the one you already have

Sometimes I feel like people jump in here without really reading what all of the rumors had been, or just can't put things together:

    - general leaks on new panasonic hardware announcement
    - Validated leaks of a GH5 body with a new distinguishing red ring
    - New hardware shipped to Luke Neumann, who shot for the GH5, who is shooting a new short on new hardware, with images and stills that when zoomed validate a GH5 size body and some even pointing to a red ring as seen elsewhere
    - trusted forum member under NDA affirming something exciting

Some rumors are sketchy at best, others have much more merit to them than others. Who knows exactly what the 8th will hold, but I'll be shocked if there's not at least a small fire with all this very coherently connected smoke. And I highly doubt it's just a paid firmware update, or anything photo focused based on Luke Neumann's involvement.

I can say that its not firmware without violating NDA.
Gear matters. But just a little. Story is everything.
