    Canon 16-35 f/2.8 mk.2 VS 16-35 f/4 IS for C300 Run 'n' Gun Documentary Filming
Looking for some input on the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 mk.2 VS 16-35 f/4 IS.

I need a wide angle lens for my C300 in Documentary situations
Would the faster lens or the IS lens be more suited, or do the cancel out?
Doesn't look like there is much of a used price difference (couple hundred USD)

The 16-35mm f/2.8 II is not as sharp as the 16-35 f/4L. If you are going handheld, the IS on the f/4 is invaluable and works well. If you need a low light lens, the 18-35 f/.8 Sigma is a much better option than the Canon.

I'd say its only sharper at the edges, slightly. I have the MKII 2.8 version and love it on my C300 MKII, when i'm wide open I rarely want the edges of the frame to be sharp anyway so i'm fine with it. I tried the mkiii which is sharper but its negligible and more noticeable in stills.
