I'm looking for a MP4 to DNxHD converter. The last time I looked for a converter I ended up downloading a ransomeware virus that locked up my computer. This time, I see the same thing; many offers for converters, but few from what appear to be legitimate sites. The only thing I see that looks ok is something mentioned by Avid; Strreamclip by Squared 5. But Squared 5's website looks to be old (last news piece on the site is from 2012). Is this an ok converter for 4kMP4? I want to take clips from a sports camera and use it in Resolve.

    Are there any other options?

You can convert with Resolve. from mp4 to DNxHQ and HDNxHD.

Or you can edit the mp4 files and export them as DNxHD.

Ahh, excellent. I am just starting with Resolve. I did not know that. I want the DNxHD conversion first to keep the CPU requirements down.

I opened an email with attachment during Christmas that said my Fed Ex package could not be delivered. Turned out to be ransomware that laid an encrypted file over every file on my computer. Impossible to recoup files. Over 95% of my files were backed up. Lesson learned. Hate hackers and can relate to your ransomware experience.

Very important to know Windows, Mac, Linux. ffmbc will handle it, is free open source, and there are a few GUI's out there. HDCinematics Convert (formerly Cliptoolz) http://hdcinematics.com/ is very good. Sony Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare might get you to DNxHD (can't remember right now). VLC will do it, but I find the workflow to be difficult.

What an online video converter do you recommend to me? I need a faster and powerful converter. I often use this tool https://onlineconvertfree.com/converter/video/ with which converters to compare?
