As another poster mentioned, my wife and I make them and have for 16 years (the first one we keep sealed in a vault, it's that bad). 7 years ago we got serious about it and started working a lot harder and educating ourselves on writing, cinematography, etc. Gradually we have gotten better despite budgets remaining low and the last one got a limited nationwide theater release. She's upstairs as we speak working on the next script, a several month process. We own the domain Faithflix.com which both promotes our films and chronicles the industry. Will PM you soon David.

Well as I said, I'm trying to get my church to start a Christian Film Festival. If we get it going, I'll be contacting all those who responded to see if you have a film you'd like to submit.

I spent 2 years on the board of a film festival here -- the Real To Reel Film and Video Festival (http://www.ccartscouncil.org/realtoreel/index.html). So I have some experience with what's involved.

I anticipate there would be no entry fee for the first festival. Probably also the screening would be free to the public. If all goes well, then we would like to make it an annual event. If we get a good audience, then next year or maybe the year after we might start charging an entry fee for films and perhaps sell tickets to the screenings, using the proceeds to offer awards, maybe cash prizes, and generally to put on a bigger and better screening.

    Thanks for the responses!

95%! Ya gotta love the irony.

Not just Christian, though. These days I graciously decline all faith-based writing. As much as I enjoy doing it, the risks are all but guaranteed.

    What do you mean 'burned'?

My usual criticism of 'faith' based material is about the same as my criticism of 'hallmark' type films, which of the one's I've seen tend to be more 'preaching to the choir' than 'stimulating critical thinking'.

I did buy one of El Director's films. He's had a few problems of late getting more films out.

Please don't try to turn this into any kind of discussion about faith-based films, the pros and cons, etc. You'll just get the thread locked. If you want to know what alex is talking about, then send a private message.

    Thank you!
