Another thing I found in my travels was the Visionsmith booth. They had a cool product they called the "ReLamp." Basically it replaces your halogen fresnels with LED bulbs. The bulbs are 98 CRI, and they work with the existing dimmers. They're flicker free, and fit 300w, 650w, 1K, and 2K fixtures. I hadn't heard of these guys, but they've got a cool thing going.

Combine the ReLamp with a cheap chinese fixture and you would have a nice 150w Led fresnel (1.5K tungsten) for under $1000.

So is it the one type of unit for any fresnel light? For instance I have a mole 200, arri 300, B&M 650, and mole 1K fresnel, does the same LED go in all of them?

These drop ins look like great options but the low R values on the CRI ratings would have me worried about skin. Maybe it won't matter but I'd need to see samples or reviews before I roll the dice.

Actually the colour rendering of their lights is quite good. I'll have some units in a month or so for testing. Peter and company there are great guys. Stay tuned.

Great to hear! When you get them I would love to see them and hear your opinion. I think we live in the same neighbourhood if you wanted an extra set of hands for testing. I really like the sound of their 150w 1K fresnel replacement. Although right now I think my current lighting money is going towards a SoftPanel 2x3.
