Ok I just inserted the second tape to a talent show I need to edit and split up on a DVD and I need to have this second tape captured by lunch today so some of the members can come and view my edits this afternoon, so someone please help me out quickly if you know what to do.
I go to capture the second tape and im getting this error :
"Exception: A drop frame tape was inserted. A non-drop frame tape was expected. Please insert the correct non-drop frame tape."
HELP ME! I cant get around this it seems. I even have the settings in Capture to capture over timecode breaks, maybe thats not the same but I do need this captured this morning. Please someone!

In the record tool, click on the TC button at the end on the right, then you're recording/digitizing regardless of frames. You won't have the timecode info you may need later, but in a rush, it will let you get video into your bin so you can edit.

Or, you can create a new tape name and still keep your timecode. Generally what this message means is that there's both drop frame and non-drop frame on the tape. If you shuttle your tape forward a little bit where the actual footage is and then create your tape name in Avid you'll have the right type of timecode logged.
Deselecting the TC button might be faster, but I always go into a project expecting to have to batch capture. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah well at work on regular same day projects, I never do a batch capture. If it was a production then yes I probably would. I ended up just pressing play and letting it play a second or two then hitting capture and that worked. That was weird and scary but got the project out in time. Thanks you guys! You rule, I owe you lunch!

I too often get this error* and wonder why. I definitely do not have mixed drop-frame and non-drop frame on the same tape.
* I just make a "New Tape" item with slightly different name, and this resolves.
I suspected that the anamoly occurs in Avid when the camera is turned off/on or tape ejected, mid tape. However, I have had it occur when this has not been the case. Puzzling. No Pun Productions - www.NoPunProductions.com

What I do is make sure that I am clearly in acitve picture before giving it a tape name. I also have my settings to default as NON DROP for logging, etc. since I only work in 24fps.

Ok im freaking out again. Im having the problem again but it wont quit. I tried everything except for freakying out and breaking everything in here but I think that is my next option.
Im having the same drop frame tape was inserted. I shot F6 with the DVX and went to a 29.97 timeline and tried to capture. Nothing shows up, I can play the deck and nothing even shows on the screen. My settings are correct, nothing different from before. I even tried the 23.97 timeline and that didn't give any good results either. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!My work: http://portfolio.337studios.com

PS : I wanted to add, if we get 5.2 instead of the 4.3 that we currently have, will this fix that problem?
