Got this bulk email from NAB this morning wishing me a "Happy Anzac Day" in a breezy fun font. I think it got lost in trans-Pacific translation. Today's Anzac Day commemorates the 100th anniversary of the landings at Gallipoli which subsequently led to the deaths of over 100,000 soldiers from all the participating armies. It's like saying "Happy Memorial Day" or "Happy Pearl Harbor Day".

And those look more like stylised crysanthemums than poppies...

Got the same one Peter. Just saw this thread now. Left me somewhat bewildered as well. I did think good on them for trying however.

I can't find it now, but I remember seeing an article about a Roku billboard (I believe) that had text like "Happy Hanukkah, Happy Hannukah, Happy Chanukah, or however it's spelled."

In the article it went into how the creative company who came up with the ad didn't understand that it wasn't how you spell it, but who was spelling it, as different Jewish traditions spell it different ways. Thus the ad was being insensitive in saying "however it's spelled" when it should've said "however you spell it."
Where are all the S-VHS hipsters?

I was going to make a Stalingrad joke but thought better of it.
