New 'Cabrio Killer' Lens coming from Canon

I didn't see it but I recommended the ability to stop the lens at 90 via a switch. You don't want a smooth zoom in on a long shot (especially green screen) to suddenly have your luma off for keying in post.

That said, real world, I couldn't really see the difference when I was using it in my hands. The lens looked fine. I'm curious about the loss of resolution at the edges. I LOVED how the focus ring felt. Just like an ENG zoom lens. The Cabrio 19-90 lacked that. The Cabrio also had (and still has) growing pains with LDS and camera power integration. I hope Canon doesn't have to go through that as well. Again, we will see.

All in all a solid looking item. I wouldn't sell my Cabrio just yet. The EF mount was a great idea. That be useful for rental houses and people with those that have both EF and PL mounts on cameras. I think the ENG style PL zoom cine lens style will only become more popular as time goes on.

One thing that just really sticks in my mind is the price tag & that BlackMagic had their new $2k Broadcast Camera w/ a lens like this attached. $30-40k lens on a $2k camera. Just makes me wonder why the BMD "broadcast" camera has a "cinema" sized chip instead of a 2/3" chip.... aaaand now I've gone off topic.

Still it makes me drool when looking a ENG styled Cinema glass.
