Canon has already answered back with their new, C500.5 Yup all new digic 5 1/2. processor, 8.5 bit, 4:2:0.5, and a full 61fps at 720p. thats a whole frame per second more with the new digic 5 1/2 processor. And it's only 90k. Top that sony! Seriously though, Sony has just dropped a bomb that will take the competition years to catch up. 16k, you can shoot BTS, at the same time as your shooting your scenes. damn.

I have to say, when Canon set up their cinema division, Sony lol, and the rest is history. With specs like this, not only did they stick it to RED, Arri ,Canon, pani who? but they also gave Phantom a smack in the ass as well. 1,320 fps at 16k. Thats as silly as my comment.

I was a bit disappointed to find out the EVF is the same as on the F3 but other than that it looks good. Guess this is aimed shooting vertical video also as the LCD is vertically oriented. Then there's the trickled down F37,5 coming in August with only 12bit 960fps internal raw...

Now all I need is a rig to set it up for right-hand shooting and I'm good to go.

May is going to be a sweet time to be a filmmaker.

Sony is also launching vertical TVs and monitors to revolutionise this industry. They are launching 144 inch 16K TV for 1.6K USD. These TVs have automatic upscaling option for your 1080p, 720p as well as SD content.

Vertical shooting and displays are definitely the future.

In fact, when traditional cinemas started losing ground to the advent of television they invented "widescreen" to create what would be known (and marketed) as the ultimate theatre experience. Initially it simply involved matting out the tops and bottom of a 35mm frame at the time of projection, and later on was done in-camera using cinemascope lenses and other matting techniques.

Looks like Sony is future proofing themselves yet again (and thinking out of the box). Kudos!

I don't know if we can call it upscaling. Maybe side-scaling or roto-scaling.

April Fools? I feel bad now. I emailed Sony a foul-mouthed email, inquiring about a new Sony Vegas Update for editing 16K. Darnit!

I hope we all know that if this was REDUSER there would be an army of people already putting deposits down on this "revolutionary" camera?
