I recently sold my DVX100 but before I did i transfered all my 50+ tapes to my computer. Well, of course after I sold the camera I lost a lot of the footage by way of a hard drive error. I was wondering if I can buy a cheap Mini-DV camera to re-capture the footage. Will regular Mini-DV equipment read the DVX100 footage. Thanks.

I believe that if it was shot at 24p, then it needs to be played in the DVX. Otherwise any camera should do.

DV is DV. Any mini-DV cam should be able to move the video to computer.

To really spell it out, yes, any DV camera can play back DVX tapes, including the 24p tapes.

However, be aware that if you shot in LP, there is no guarantee that any camera or deck will be able to play back any other camera's LP footage.

Also, using any camera, all of the metadata will be transferred, so the 24p pulldown flags will still be intact, so automatic pulldown removal for editing as 24p is still possible.

I had bought a cheap camera to capture with to save my DVX 100.
The problem is the 2332 pull down is not there and neither is progressive mode even with the project set to progressive and 24 frames
So I go to each clip and change change the properties from lower field to progressive and export as an AVI file.
Importing then shows 23.97 and 2332 removed.
