I tried tech support at Sound Devices and he never even heard of a D7000! This coming from the company that makes this mixer specifically for DSLR shooting!!!
Has anyone had interference noise (loud) when hooking up the MixPre-D to their D7000? I am using the SD XL-3 3.5mm to TA3F cable and have tried every movie audio setting on the D7000 I can find.
The only possible explanation is the unbalanced out on the MixPre is too strong at 36DB, as Nikon's in is limited to 42DB. The rep said I might try the standard XLR out on the MixPre and set it to MIC, not LINE OUT, which is what I was always told to do. This is 40DB, still not Nikon's spec, but closer.
Anyone?

I just got my call back from Sound devices.... They don't know. They never tested the D7000 or the D800 with the MixPre-D. No one there has a clue. Amazing.
