Hello everyone,
I am writing to you on here about what everyone does for exercise to work on maintaining balance and being fit for operating a camera or being on a film set. I am a photographer and DP who wants to prevent injury in my future, I am 23 years old. I am not completely out of shape but I can definitely improve in many areas. I assume based on what I figured out from photography and lugging still cameras around, you mostly want great core strength and upper body muscle. Are there any targeted workouts that can increase muscle for longer shoulder rig periods? I notice when I see photographs of DP's most of you guys are jacked and pretty fit, so tell everyone your secret!
Thanks!
Chris

Start with Qi Kung, then Tai Chi. It changed my life. It changes the way you work out, but start with Qi Kung. Do some research, it's mainly a lot of breathing and stillness training. It does wonders for the body, and sets it up to respond wonderfully to any training that follows.
It's basically learning to realize a hair of resistance every waking moment. Incredible.

The consensus of an old school DVXuser thread was Burn the Fat. You have to buy their info but it is good, effective stuff.
Now then, a good FREE source for exercise and nutrition information is Scooby's Workshop.Practice safe filmmaking; use a concept.

Oh wow. Since that thread I've gotten two certifications for personal training, trained competitive bodybuilders, stopped drinking and started powerlifting. Still eat junk food once a week though
Crazy how...different my attitude was back then.
