4 pin Firewire output broke on my VIXIA30

I have a Canon VIXIA HV30, with a broken firewire output.

I am wondering if it's worth fixing the 4-pin Firewire output or just get another hand held camera. I already own a Panasonic HVX200, but use this on the run.

OR: is there another way to export the clips from the tapes without quality loss?

What is the best hand-held HD camcorder for around $500-$600? ( Preferably with advanced shoe-horn accessory since I already own the DM 50 microphone. )
