    has anyone any experience of cropping a Close up from a sony F3 frame. have some shots that need to be a little tighter. they were recorded to a pix 240 dnxhd at 220mbs. thanks

    I have various examples throughout this music video I directed (also posted in this thread). It was only shot to SXS internal media card. (420 8-bit 35Mbps)

    Any zooms you see are done in post, and some frames were blown up to 20%-25% to reframe shots. Also, all slow motion shots are blown up 50% because in-camera the F3 can only overcrank 1280x720 so to match the rest of the footage shot it was blown up 50% to 1920x1080.

    This video screened at a film festival last weekend and I saw it on the big screen. 50% is definitely pushing it, the image will get softer for sure but also I did not use any special software to do the "up-rezzing".

    There is also a spec commercial Nigel A here on DVX shot where I remember a close-up being taken from a master.

    Depends a lot on what your final use is. if its the web than just cut in 720 and you have 50% for free. If for projection or large screen then you just eed t test yourself to see what you can get away with and it will be shot specific. Close-ups might be fine.
