Why do HD monitors always have the most bone-bizzare resolutions imaginable?
Is it really so difficult to stick to the normal, industry standard resolutions?
    [720p, 1080p, 2k, 4k] [Instead we get stupid resolutions like 1600x900 1366x768 etc]

It's a computer monitor, not a broadcast monitor.

Silly argument. A 'computer' monitor does not need such exceedingly high resolution in such a small space, the only two purposes I could think of for a monitor like this are gaming or HD movies. It has to upscale 2k footage and downscale 4k footage which makes it a pretty useless 2k monitor if you aim to actually watch 2k footage on it.

No, it's not a "silly argument".

MOST people use a computer monitor for applications on their computer.

You and I might like to watch high end films on it, but we a re a small subset of the percentage of computer users out there.

It's not an "argument" at all; it's a fact. There's a very small number of people who care about broadcast/film standard resolutions, and computer monitors are made for all users, not just the tiny niche who care about that.
