Shot this last week with the Sony VG20. Sound recorded w/ a shot gun mic and Tascam DR40. Lens was the Rokinon 35mm for canon via a cheap ebay adapter. Very happy with the result (as was the client - the most important part):

Nice soft look-- I like it. Chalk that up to the lens, I guess? Nice quality for a YouTube video. What codec did you use for output from your NLE?

    OK compliment sandwich:

Good job keeping is short, unless it's for broadcast, in which case way to go X 2
Her voice sounds thin and distant, maybe could use a bit of multi-band compression to bring up the quiet parts of her voice. She could have also used some translucent powder to control that shine. Go to a MAC counter in the girlie section of a department store and tell them what you want it for.
    No focus hunting while moving!

Much better then some ads I have seen.

    Audio notice...
I heard (air conditioner or fan) low rumble noise in the audio when I increased the volume to understand some of her speech.

1080 24p, MP4 - edited on Sony Vegas 11, no color correction. The lens - a Rokinon 35mm - is actually quite sharp. The VG20 has sort of a creamy 16mm feel to it.

The air conditioning was kicking on and off the whole time; no way for us to control that issue....

The talent's make-up & clothes are their responsibility - esp when they're the one's hiring you!

It's a broadcast ad - .30 second spot for local cable outlet, which around here is par for the course.

Handheld? I really like the subtle movement of the cam throughout.

Thanks - used a 4 foot DIY slider. A little tough to get perfectly smooth moves, but it all worked out in that take.
