I'm currently using a Sennheiser 416 as my on camera mic, but I'm noticing that its a little too heavy for the mic mount and sags a bit when mounted. I've "built up" the area on the mic where the mic holder clamps on with some gaffers tape, but I'm sure there is another option I'm not seeing.

Is there a 3rd party mic mounting option for the '250? I can't set the mic back any further or the windscreen will not be on correctly. I know the 416 is a heavy mic and built like a tank, but I wouldn't be opposed to looking at another option such as a Sanken CS-2 or CS-1e both of which are lighter, but may or may not sound as good.

use a normal suspension mount with hot shoe adaptor - will have better isolation anyway - always found too much handling noise with camera mic mount

You're probably better off with a hotshoe mount than changing mics. The Sanken is in no way a worse sounding mic than the 416, but when the main consideration is weight, the Sanken only weighs about an ounce and a half less. If you shoot out in the damp or wet, the 416 has much better RF rejection than the Sanken. Both sound great.
