I purchased this camera here, received it today and it's nice. I went to hack it to simple B settings to match my other GH1s. The hack wouldn't take, so checked the version number and this is what I see Ver 1.B.....yes, B as in Boy !!!

I have tried naming the hacked firmware GH1__145, 1CC, 200 and not getting anything but a flash of a "Wait" screen and then back to the image on the card.

I redid the hack to make sure I checked new body, prevent version compare, everything and still not able to get the updating to happen.

I don't think I am missing anything, full battery, card formatted in camera and fresh image taken with camera before placing the firmware on the card. Still nothing.

Any help, ideas or experience with something like this ???

i see you are renaming to increments higher but are you actually adjusting increments in ptools?

I tried it both ways, checking version increments in ptool and also not checking it. I have checked prevent version compare and that hasn't made any difference either. I have tried getting into the temporary service menu to see what exactly the last owner called this version, but have been unable to get in there yet.

I am open to trying anything as the body is sweet and of the vintage I really wanted. I just need it now to match my others too.

by checking do you mean actually inputing values to get it over version 1.B or just checking the box?

I have renamed the hacked firmware several different ways, as well as checking and unchecking the box marked "version increment". I still have not found any way to get the camera to accept the latest update, yet.

I have also tried a number of times to get into the temporary service menu to get the exact firmware name the camera is now using, but have not been able to accomplish that either.

I finally got it rehacked. I just kept putting in numbers and clicking options in ptool and changed cards until something worked. When it did go to update it asked me if I wanted to update to ver 2.5 which seemed kind of odd as I was listing firmware 135. Don't care why it worked....all that's important is it did !!!

    Thanks for your help!

so is it safe to assume then that you are not actually inputting values to change the version increment but only ticking the box and renaming the file?

    cool, glad its sorted.

jack it up to 2.6 and then tick prevent version compare to reset it to 0.0 for easier patching in the future

I did have prevent version compare checked the last times I tried, so it gave me 0.0 even when it was ver 2.5 that went in. After I got it to hack, I then returned it to stock firmware of 1.32 and then started all over with installing a hack of B settings. I have run it and so far, everything looks to be fine.

Thanks again for your help and suggestions with this !!!
