How to make actresses feel safe?

I need to film a scene at my apartment but have never filmed one there before and am wondering if the actresses might feel nervous about coming to a strange apartment since I don't really know the actresses since I hired them through auditions. I guess I might be projecting my own feelings onto the actresses as I myself might be nervous if I didn't really know the director and they told me to go to their apartment to film. I have a youtube channel with all of my previous films so they can see it's not some type of scam just to get them to my apartment. How do I make them and myself more comfortable about filming at my apartment. do any of you have experiences filming at your home?

Make sure no ducktape is visible anywhere. Even if it's props for the scene, hide it,

but seriously, most actresses are professionals. And why the emphasis on your apartment, just say it's Location A. But long as when she walks in there's a decent crew, 2 or 3 would be great. And if possible try to have another female on set, make sure it's not all males, I'm sure you have a girl-friend who wouldn't mind coming out to watch a movie being film.

But most female actors I dealt with are professional enough to know a legit filmmaker from the next Buffalo Bill.

Leave the front door open, first off. Always a good-faith start. I would even encourage her to bring someone along, and you should have someone as well, because being alone in your apartment with a female stranger also puts you at risk in a he-said she-said kinda way.

I'm confused, are you going to be alone with the actress? I would assume that if you actually auditioned people you would have a crew as well, in which case there's absolutely nothing to worry about. It's just a location as far as she's concerned. I would say the best piece of advice would be that when you know she's headed into the location, get your crew to seem busy. This will immediately send her signals that she is on a professional shoot and she will be excited. If you guys just seem to be hanging out, then yes it could get awkward.

If you don't have a crew, then I don't know what to do, because that does sound awkward. Just talk to her about it I guess. The more vague you are about everything the more nervous she would be.

Don't forget to guard your own safety. If you don't know someone it's not a great idea to be alone with them in your apartment for a shoot. I generally prefer female actors to bring a chaperon, or I have a crew member with me, so no one can claim anything inappropriate happened, even if it didn't.

If I know them, have shot with them before, it doesn't matter but there's a lot of psychos out there and it doesn't hurt to be cautious until you get to know someone.

+1 on hiring a female crew member, ideally as an AD. Keep your lady AD at your side at all times. NEVER be alone in a room with an actress you don't know. You'd be amazed at the population of CrazyTown.
