I know it's just a rumor but it looks pretty official. I wonder what kind of video capability something like this will be sporting.

Well, the 22mm lens is an STM, which is good. That is Canon's new, silent auto focus designed to be used for video.
Canon Rumors **had** said in the past that the mirrorless was **supposed** to have the same 18MP chip as the Rebel T4i that just came out in June.
But the opening for the sensor looks smaller than an APS-C size sensor?
Also, if that lens is meant to be a "stanadard" lens for the mirrorless, I doubt that the chip is the same size. If it is supposed tpo be equivalent to the recent 40mm pancake lens taht would give us the ratio of sensor sizes.
A previous rumor had said that it woukld use the same chip as the Canon GX1 (?) That seems more likely - maybe they meant it uses the same focus design as the T4i?
Beyond that it all comes down to firmware for video.
I like the auto focus and face tracking of the T4i. I would assume those will be present on the mirrorless?
On ther T4i, Canon made a BIG firmware mistake on Auto Exposure. On the T4i:
1) Auto exposure will automatically change the shutter, aperature, or ISO in all modes,
2) There is no way to limit the top ISO for video, and
3) It seems to prefer changing the ISO to changing the aperature or shutter speed, even in bright sunlight.
When I was sweeping across a strongly side-lit scene in late afternoon, I watched the ISO bounce from 100 to 400, 800, and 1600 within a 5 second sweep. I
assume Canon thinks this is less distracting than changing aperature or shutter speed, but the image quality really shows the noise and degradation at 1600 when the image is pushed (or you are expecting highest qulaity.) Then you will have to isolate just parts of each scene - with no metadata to go by - to do noise reduction and bring the image back in post.
A much, much better approach would be to let you use the control dial to set apreature preferred, Av, shutter preferred, Tv, or program, P, auto exposure, and then let you limit the ISO shift...... Magic Lantern anyone?
I know a lot of folks say they never use auto exposure. But as you move from cine stype shooting to more run & gun, it becomes an asset in some cases. The question is how far toward replacing a camcorder in day to day use you can push the camera. The further the better in my mind.
Interesting times though.
Best,
Michael

I think it's confirmed that it is APS-C. Anyway, let's go on here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread...s-are-now-open

So it appears to be a 650D repackaged into a mirrorless system
http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canon-eos-m/
It also has the 3X-10X video crop the 600D had but is missing from the 650D.
I'm curious how this wil affect the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. This new EF-M mount has an 18mm flange to focal distance and full compatibility with EF lenses through an adapter. Seems it would be the perfect mount for a new BMC camera. Retaining what is possible with the current camera and EOS lenses while opening up the whole of adapters for vintage and cine glass.
