Hey guys and gals,
I just wanted to post a link to a show I produced and was DP on for Hulu. I'd love to get any feed back that you guys have - good or bad!
The show is called Leap Year and right now it's in its second season.
It was shot mostly with a Canon 1D MkIV and L-Series lenses. Sometimes a 5D was brought in for multiple camera shots and occasionally a 60D.

Let me know what you think!
Thanks!

Congrats on having your production and DP work on Hulu, what an achievement! Much less it being shot on the Canon series, that really is something to be proud of and hopefully it will continue to spread a professional standard of how these cameras can be used! I skimmed through the link's episode and so many shots look very comfortable and pleasing, and it seems like a production that really has put a lot of hard work into the mix. I do have to say though that the aesthetic of the show, from the lighting, to the post-coloration, to the exposures, to possibly even the picture style used in-camera, has room for improvement before the show is able to achieve a "mainstream" or "big budget" look and feel, but that the acting is pretty good (there's occasionally an actor who just doesn't have a strong enough vocal texture or natural sense of movement to be right for the role), the script seems very adequate and quirky in a positive way, and that again, it's really amazing to see DSLR productions achieve bigger and bigger things! I really hope this series paves the way for your future work, and it's again amazing that the show is now on Hulu!

Thanks for the honest and well thought out critique! Yeah, for the budget and the speed of shooting (around 10 pages a day, sometimes more) I was really happy how it turned out. And yes I totally agree that there is room for improvement to get that "mainstream" or "big budget" look. Heh, perhaps a big budget would get us that. :P But that aside I definitely see things after the product is finished that I wished I could have done a little differently. That doesn't mean I'm not proud of my work. It just means I'll be better next time!
FYI: The camera was shot on Technicolor's CineStyle scene setting. I thought that gave us much more room in post to get the desired look. You can really see the difference from season 1 which we shot on the same cameras but on a more contrasty user created scene style.
But again, thanks for the kind words and the honest feedback!

Great job on this, really looks awesome. By any chance what mic do you guys use for dialog? Do you always keep location sound or do you ever do ADR?
