DIY: SD Card Backup with out laptop

I am wanting to make a diy on location backup device.

but there over $1,000 and allow you to see footage on location. I don't need that, just something with a 1 touch backup of sd cards to a harddrive that gives a confirmation that it was copied.

I have a 500GB 7200rpm 2.5" sata harddrive laying around, what I'm hoping is that there is some kind of enclosure that has an sd card slot on the outside and allows you to put a 2.5" drive inside to do 1 button push backups of sd card without all the specialized video stuff that makes it so expensive. does anyone know of anything like that? i've been looking on ebay thinking some Chinese company probably makes something like that but I've had no luck so far.

Why not get a cheap obsolete laptop with a card reader? Rather than buy a $600 60GB firestore for my p2 cards I bought a <$100 delivered Dell D430 (with PCMCIA card slot) with 80GB HDD. 133% of the capacity for 17% of the price. I don't need the extra features the firestore has and get a bonus screen to preview my footage. Battery lasts forever too. I don't use it for anything else. A bit bigger than your hard drive but it weighs not much more than a pound and with a tiny 12" screen, I wouldn't be surprised if I wore jeans in the 90s with pockets big enough to hold it! A newer option would be the tiny and cheap netbooks, don't know if any have SD slots but you could get a USB card reader.

Do you really trust a spinning mechanical hard drive for serious backup ? What if you God forbid.. oops..drop it ?
Remember the Microdrive CF cards not too long ago? i Scr..ed up a wedding because I dropped one. Spinning drives will go the way of the DoDo.
