Hey all,
Just released this new short comedy. Let me know what you think! Would love some feedback!
Rick, an actor in the community theatre circle, decides he should be precast for a local show.
Thanks!

Take my critique with a grain of salt - I'm an amateur and not a pro. The shaky camera thing doesn't really work too well here. Also the guy with the curly hair could have used a bit of fill light to help combat the environmental backlighting. His face was a bit underexposed. Focus seemed a bit soft on him too. Towards the end when he stood up the audio got a bit lost too.
Material had some funny spots though: "I don't really have the money for gas to get to every single rehearsal"... "where do you live?" "Right next to the theater." haha!

Glad you liked the material. I agree he's a bit too soft and dark. I did have a fill light on him but I think dimmed it a bit too much. I didn't want it to be too bright and I wound up making it too dark. I also agree about the shaky cam. I do like the style, but I didn't really get the effect I was going for. It's too micro-jittery, mostly due to the way I was holding it. The problem with the audio at the end was because we didn't actually have a boom operator. Unfortunately, the actor who was originally playing the director was a no-show. So my boom op learned all the lines on the spot and took over and we used a mic stand, which worked okay until the end. Oh, the thrills of no budget...
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment
