I am in a very lucky position to be able to buy 3 Carl Zeiss CP.2 compact primes. I am set on getting the new 15mm T2.9; the new 35mm Super Speed T1.5 for my Af101. But I have a dilemma - should I get the 85mm or 100mm ?
I make short films not documentaries/wildlife or event filming and can only afford 3 !!
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Bob

What focal lengths do you shoot the most at?
If it were me I would likely go 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, with the Duclos 11-16 on the wide end.
Then again I ave a full kit from 11mm up to 300mm with everything in between.David W. Jones

If your looking for a longer lens then either the 85mm or the 100mm will perform very very well. I'd rent them both from lensrentals.com or any other store (Online or locally) and try each out before buying. I'd take a long hard look at the 21mm as that lens is my favorite of the cp.2's. Just my 2 cents-Adam

Personal preference would be the 85mm. I love the 80-90mm focal length range regardless of format. There is something about depth perspective that I find very appealing in that range.

The 85mm would be my choice. I have it and I love it. On the AF-100 the 85mm has the field of view of a 170mm lens. Its long. The look is great. You can really isolate the subject with it. I originally bought the Zeiss ZF version then the CP.2. Your in a good position and your timing is perfect with the new Super Speeds. My choice would be 35mm, 50mm, 85mm. The 15mm has issues so I read. It’s not optically as good as the others. To bad Zeiss didn’t make the 28mm as a Super Speed. I would prefer it over the 35mm.

85mm is rather long on the af100, so i would say go for that one before the 100mm

Different shooters tend to prefer different focal lengths. With m43, I tend towards 17.5, 35, and 90. Your needs may vary.

I would suggest as others have...for that kind of investement...check them out at a rental house first.

I find the 50 range is very nice for portraits, particularily if your space is limited.
