Firmware releases today. Not yet posted on US site as far as I can tell, but keep checking
If you have not yet updated to an earlier version and wish to go to 1.4, no need to step incrementally since the 1.4 update includes all features previously added.

Thanks for the link! I had been checking the wrong place. (which looks to be part of the same site but isn't updated) Is there a difference?

That's what it is supposed to do-- screen goes black in stage 2 and your heart rate increases

Easy to forget the sometimes shocking "black period" during the firmware update process. Here's the deal... There are three stages during the firmware update. 2 of the stages, stages 1 and 3, you can see a progress statement on the LCD screen. During stage 2 there is no indication on the LCD of what the heck is going on.
Here are the approximate time amounts for each stage of the firmware update process:
Stage 1: 5 minutes or 300 seconds (LCD indication shown)
Stage 2: 9 minutes or 540 seconds (absolutely nothing on the LCD screen: don't panic!!)
Stage 3: 10 minutes or 600 seconds (LCD indication shown)
and then you will be asked to power cycle the camera. I shut it down for 20 seconds, pulled out the card with the firmware updater on it and put in a freshly formated SxS card and then rebooted the camera.
I removed the firmware updater from the SxS card on my computer and then put it back in the camera and did another reformat of the card, just to be cautious.

If you already have s-log (purchased v.) installed, will 1.4 still allow you to select S-Log the traditional way in the Video Set / Dual-Link & Gamma select menu so features such as MLUT and EI will work? Im assuming 1.4 will allow you to activate S-Log two different ways now; one in the Picture Profile as a Gamma selection and the original way? Being able to white balance S-Log is the #1 feature Im interested in but do not want to lose access to previous features I paid for. Thanks guys..

You have two options for using S-Log. The first is as it was before with the CBK-RGB01 installation. Select S-Log from the camera menu either as 422 or 444 dual link or 3G. Luts and EI are available. Note that I am referring to options in firmware 1.3.1
With 1.4, you will have S-Log turned off in the Camera Setup menus. Go into picture profiles and modify a picture profile by selecting S-Log under the gamma submenu rather than Rec709, Cine1,2, etc etc. Now all of your camera functions are available, including white balance. BUT, LUTs and EI are NOT available when simply using the S-Log gamma setting enabled by 1.4
Hope this clarifies
Ned
