Hi All
I have been meaning to ask this question for a long time but never get around to it. On the HMC80 (and maybe 40) and also on the HMC150 and the new 160's if you are in autoiris, you can tweak the iris (open or close) if, say, you have a mild backlighting situation and need to give a stop of two more so the subject is correctly exposed even if the background blows out! Sorta acts like a EV that still cameras have. What I have never bothered to discover, but maybe someone already has, is if you had your camera on a tripod in auto iris and needed to open the iris a bit for correct subject exposure, if the lighting changes a little the auto iris tends to keep the EV of say +2 applied to that exposure. Now when does that reset???? At weddings when I have to tweak the iris open a tad, the scene stays the same and at the ceremony end the camera gets a power off which (I have always assumed) resets the EV to 0. If you keep the camera running will it keep that EV applied until it is turned off??? I haved checked it carefully but it does seem to reset itself if you switch from auto iris to manual iris but it's hard to tell if the adjustment has been only 1 stop!!
Anybody know the answer???
Chris
