Every time I switch from proxy to original media, the program crashes. Can anyone tell me why?

what computer with specs, RAM, etc. and OS are you using.

Also which version of FCPX. A lot of these kinds of issues can be fixed by trashing prefs-

I'd suggest updating to 10.0.5 and then clearing out your prefs if that doesn't help. ALso remove 3rd party codecs like Perian- etc.

Hmc150 external FireWire 800. I have also tried putting the files on the internal drive with no improvement
