Hey guys so I'm new to this forum. Joined today.
I was looking around and from the User Films section. Went in and clicked on the rules. It sounds like it was meant to be a behind the scenes / Work in progress thread. But it looks like it has turned into a "post your videos"?
Can someone just clear up what it is? I just want to follow rules and don't post anything in the wrong section.
Thanks

User Films is a place to showcase your project and give a bts look at the process. If you want to be more specific about which camera you used or need questions answered about that camera you could always post your footage in the footage/stills section of the camera you used for the film. User films is also helpful if you've shot on several cameras or a camera that does not have a dedicated forum. The only real wrong way to post in user films is to post anything about anything other than a film you've made, are making, or are trying to make... IE, don't post about new camera's coming out or new editing software in the user films section. Hope this helps-Adam

If you just want to post your films in there, that is ok. But, we encourage folks to talk about their process so that others can learn from your mistakes and successes.

Okay thanks guys. One more question, a lot of the shorts I see are based on narrative and story. I'm currently working on something different. A more visual mountain biking short, focused on cinematography. Is it okay to post a thread about the process of that?

I've been member here for a long time and agree with Scott that "user films" is totally counter intuitive... user films should be a thread for showing your work like it use to be not so long ago... I'm sure it changed recently but I can't say for sure.
Who cares what camera it was shot with, members aren't going to go into 25 different camera threads to hunt down "user films".
On behalf of other dvx members and common sense, please bring back "user films" to what it use to / should be...

I'm not sure what you mean, b/c what you describe is what "user films" is supposed to be. Are you seeing a lot of threads in "user films" that you do not feel fit the purpose of that section? If so, please feel free to pm me some links so I can take a look.
Or, are you saying that people are posting their films in the individual camera sections, and you would like to see more of that posted in user films, rather than for "camera talk".
The intention (though, maybe not effective with so many different camera forums these days) was to have a place for folks to do "camera talk" on footage in those respective camera sections, so that kind of thing didn't spill over into user films... which is intended more for narrative showcases, production journals, etc.
Later,
Jason
