    Stay clear of those Lacie drives. THey only pack 5400rpms at that size and are loud as hell. The Gdrive TB's are much better and silent as hell.

    I agree on the SSD drives. $2000 for not even a TB of space? SSD's are great for your operating system if you need to boot quickly. Too expensive at this point. They will come down as the market heads that way, but wait until then.

    I have the 4TB and 8TB Gtechnology drives and they purr along quite nicely.

    I spent two weeks editing on someone else's 2011 maxed out MBP with a LaCie 1TB (7200rpm) T'bolt drive. No real noise, and it screamed, fantastic performance.

    Over that weekend, someone came in with a 2TB LaCie drive (5200rpm) and that drive was really impressive, super fast, and no real noise.
