Hi all I have a faulty GH1 which has been hacked. It needs to go back to Panasonic for repair but I'm not sure of whether I need to remove the hack or if I can leave it on there? I suppose the risk is that Panasonic will upgrade the firmware after the repair anyway making it unable to be hacked again, is this correct?
If you think Panasonic won't repair it if it is hacked, could you point me in the direction of a tutorial on how to remove the hack? I can find a lot on how to install it but not remove it.
Thanks in advance.

I would install the latest original Firmware yes. It allows them to check and test the camera given normal operation and not spend hours trying to figure out why the video constantly gives a play error. To revert back to standard, is pretty much like loading any other hack. The hack is a way for you to tweak the standard firmware, hence don't tweak it and upload it. In other words, open your ptools and load the standard firmware, then without tweaking anything, save the file and proceed as usual with firmware(hacking) update.

would that then mean it is not possible to re-hack it if they send it back repaired?

There is no reason that I know of (anymore) that you couldn't. For a while they had started loading a newer firmware than was ever made available to the public, however that was cracked and now all firmwares that I know of are hackable.

thanks very much for your help. I'll search for a guide on how to install the stock firmware (it's a long time since I've hacked a GH1) and go ahead with it. I'll post back my findings after the repair.

Hi,
I've updated my GH1 camera with ptool3 to change the 30 minute video recording limit of my camera.
I don't know what mistake I've done but I can only shoot 720p now. When I try to shoot FHD I get the following message:
Motion recording was cancelled due to the limitation of the writing speed of the card.
When I check, the version on the screen shows 1.3.
At the moment, I cannot install any original or hacked firmware. If I try it I get NO VALID PICTURE TO PLAY message.
My camera serial number is: WE9EA001163
I'm using SDHC memory card Sandisk extreme 45Mb/s 32Gb class 10
I'll be happy if you can help me.
Thanks

@ tuncay
I have the GH2, but it seems you don't even need ptool, just use Panasonics guide to "update" your firmware back to original firmware. See this link and let us know what happens:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...fts/index.html
Once you accept at the bottom of the guide you'll get to this site where you find the firmware:

In the time you took to post this you could have reverted to the stock firmware. It only takes a few minutes to do so I have no idea why anyone would even consider taking the risk of sending in a hacked camera.

should I UN-hack a GH1 before sending away for repair?
