Hey all,
I use ae cs5 for my keying and it has worked beautifully in the past.
However in the past, I haven't tried matching the background to what the subject says on the screen.
When the subject says a particular word, I want to change the background to fit that word.
I need audio preview for this to know when to place the bg.
Maybe I am looking at this wrong, or not seeing something. When I preview, I ram-preview and once it is loaded, I can play the whole thing with sound from start to finish... but when I try to stop the preview to place the new background, the audio is lost....
In a 30 minute edit, this can get annoying.
Any help??

Hold Control and scroll in the timeline (maybe control or alt, can't quite remember, I'm using a mac and here its Command). It should scroll down the timeline with sound, it will sound horrible, but at least you can make out sounds, beats, etc.
Question: Why are you doing a 30min edit in AE? Good luck :/

Thanks for the reply. I was finally able to get it.
I am doing some green screen work and needed to change the background on cue throughout the video...

check your audio settings in preferences, they need to be set up correctly. The '.' button previews just audio on the timeline. You can then tap the '*' key to make markers as it plays.
