well, if you are VAT registered, then you can deduct the Vat from your tax-report also. so basically buying it as a company will always be essentially VAT-free. You "only" need to pre-finance the VAT for 3-6 weeks. Thatīs all. But that means Euro 2.000-3.000 per camera cash-flow. That could be an issue.....

well u are lucky if it takes just 3-6 weeks to get it back! Here VAT is 22% and i can claim to get it back only every 3rd month..... means if lets say i bought it in JAN i can Claim for VAT return only at the End of March, and after that they will consider if they really should return it and it takes up to 3 month...... from my experience consideration never took less then 3 month, so it may takes up to 6 months to get my VAT back! now, i have to PAY income tax every 3rd month ..... and they dont f.... care if i dont have money because they did not return my vat back yet..... 1 week late on income tax payment and my bank account arrested, business frozen! so i better will not give my government a chance to use my money for 6 months and just will buy everything outside of my country..... plus usually as i live in small country local prices are a little higher then in the rest of the EU, so it covers the shipping!
so for a small payment like printer, i would not bother , but for big ones like C300..... i would for sure save on vat..... and its a big saving as u can buy accessories or lens right away together with the cam with out spending extra!
<> ups have to make some corrections, i did not know about the changes since i had not needs for tax return this year yet, so i just found out that our rules got changed in 2012 and now i can claim for the tax return only Twice a year, so now to get my vat back it can takes for up to 9 months! Nice !!!Last edited by anatusa; 06-22-2012 at 08:35 PM.
