    Hi Guys,

Just bought a 250 and have been noticing a loss of rez when I pan the camera. I am shooting in 1080 50i. The camera is basicly the settings out of the box. I have updated it and the issue is still there.
Has anyone else had this issue?

    Mike

Wouldn't any camera have an apparent loss of visual rez due to motion blur from panning the camera?

This seems a bit harsher than I have ever seen and even happens at very slow panning. This is my first CMOS camera. Before this I bought a 502.
I'll download some vision in the next couple of days.

I think monitor refresh rates can influence apparent softness. Pans must be very slow and will look much sharper on 1080p screens. View on a CRT and all looks fine. If you have 180 shutter on it will help as well.

Shutter check it or set it. Off on the 250 is truly off, and default is off.

Like it's big brother the 370, it suffers from cmos mush when panning, detail loss. This was my biggest complaint with the 370. It may be a few years before CMOS is anywhere near CCD in performance. CMOS is cheaper to build. You learn to work around its limitations.

Make sure your shutter isn't set to off.

So by turning the shutter on the panning issue went away?

I believe it's more that by turning the shutter on, the amount of motion blur (the apparent "loss of rez") is reduced - thereby making mid-pan frames appear sharper.
