    Best D7000 Flat Picture Control Yet?

    Just found this:

    It's pretty amazing, more than the test video above lets on. You can see its full potential here:

    Things that are nearly black (0:12) regain a ton of detail (0:40). Doesn't look too hard to grade back to a normal look, either. Can't wait to give it a shot this weekend!

    EDIT: Another great example:

    I ran it over my light response and DR test, and I have to say: it could be smoother in the mids-to-highlights transition (there's a slight kink at 70%), but it looks pretty nice indeed.
    Flaat is designed for the D800, and doesn't work optimally on the D7000. I'd say this is a much better option for that camera, and probably the best one when you need as much DR as you can get (it delivers around 12 stops, and looking at the curve I'd think there's no way to get even more; no idea about how much of that would be usable).

    Found this profile on youtube:

    @Samuel H,

    So it looks like your profiles are the only ones out there so far that are specifically optimized for the D800?

    Thanks

    Maybe. I haven't looked into many alternatives, I don't even have a D800 myself
    So far Flaat for Nikon has been developed with a few D800 volunteers from around the world.
    I'll be borrowing one in july, and then Flaat should get out of its current "beta-2" state

    I don't think it will have any "weirdness": it's based on Neutral, and the curve is very simple and delivers a relatively smooth light response
