I just offloaded a full 32GB P2 to an external hard drive via Log and Transfer in FCP, footage all shot at 720 30P. I checked the capture scratch folder. All of the files are there, now in .mov as usual, but
I checked the folder size and it's about 11GB.

I've been shooting/editing P2 since I got my HVX-200 five years ago and it seems to me that I had made these comparisons before and that capture scratch folder sizes lined up with the card sizes or
amount that was on a card. The footage looks and sounds good. I don't see any capture setting that could have been changed. Am I wrong and this is always the case that the .mov files add up to
fewer GBs than those clips took on the P2 cards?
