I don't know if this is a silly question or what.
But I noticed that some of the legacy encoders, once registered on Windows, can be used in every program. That's very neat.
Nowdays, take the Mainconcept H.264 encoder for example, you virtually have to buy separate plugins for each program you have.
Why is the old design not continued?
