Nobody says anything about the Audio capabilities of this camera. What is S/N ratio? THD?

In other words, is it practically possible to record quality audio in-camera?

It's not just possible, it's a main feature.

You can record uncompressed, balanced audio signals to the BM...it will be an audio capture premium for anyone doing single sound work.

No one was dissing ef-s lenses, what I clearly said was the 18-55 kit lens was not very good due to non constant aperture, poor build and rather slow. If you are going to be shooting above 2k quality glass will make a difference.

Any of the Canon glass will be fine for shooting 2k whether it is EF or an EF-S kit lens. Even the EF-S 18-55 is made to shoot photography which on a t2i is a 5184 x 3456 raw image so they should not have any issues handling a 2.5k image.

I have seen no mention of VU meters but have seen 48K 24bit.

That's because audio hasn't even been implemented yet.

I wonder how many people would record audio directly to the camera. It seems nice for reference audio, but wouldn't this camera mostly be used in two system setups?

The only way I would ever want to shoot a narrative with audio running into camera would be wireless. And that isn't secure so.

I have done setups with wireless lavs and a shotgun mic on a boom, but even then I would run the lavs through a mixer and an audio recorder. The only situation that I could see wanting audio routed into this camera might be some kind of doc with interesting production values. But even then, wouldn't that really at least be a two or three person shoot, with someone running audio on an external recorder?
