    For the record:

    I say it will be

    4 K Sensor, recording 1080p
    Internal 8 bit 4:2:0 recording AVCHD, SDI Out 10 bit 4:2:2
    No ND Filters, thatīs just impossible
    120 FPS @ 720p
    No S-LOG. Just the same PP like FS100
    8000 $

    And it will have some downsides.

    Substatially lower battery runtime! Goodbye 8 hours with one NP-F970. More like an EX1.
    Maybe more noise because of the higher pixel amount on the same chip size.


    The GREATEST thing of all would be the possibility to upgrade an FS100...

    Of all the speculation being bandied about, this one makes the most sense to me. A better camera than the FS100, but not by leaps and bounds, not for just a few thousand dollars more. Still below the F3 and C300.

    Halfway cam eh... this setup would most definitely not make me buy it. 720p.... while decent for web, it will soon be less than decent for productions used on the small screen. I hope you're not right...

    Thats amazing to me. I have been shooting for 17 yrs and have never dropped a camera, ever. Are you by chance an amputee? just kidding. I imagine you do mountain climbing or something.

    Agreed, I can't see SONY destroying the market it has setup for the F3 anytime soon.

    What did they do to their customers who paid full price for S-log? Now it's free? This new camera will more than likely not have S-log at all. That alone will separate it from The F3 and also the mount and internal codec.

    I don't really understand the talk of an F3 Killer.... even if it is 4K (shouldn't it be an F65 killer?)

    I assume most every F3 has been purchased to make beautiful 1080p images for broadcast... The minority that purchased to make films will know the quality of it's 1080p is good enough to hold up on most big screens.

    F3 - Perfect 1080p, 14 stops DR, s-log, incredible low light, NDs, 4:4:4, 60p, 10 bit

    FS700 - 4K (not perfect), 10 stops DR, Great low light, NDs, 4:2:0, 30p, 8bit, 1080/60p (purely my guess work)

    That is quite alot of lower spec just to gain 4K. Why would an F3 owner care? Sure, they could downscale and get the perfect 1080p... It may even do it in camera.... But if the DR, s-log, 10 bit and 4:4:4 aren't there... then I can't see F3 owners crying or broadcast shooters being put off from buying an F3 (4K is not on the broadcast radar, yet).

    The FS100 didn't cannibalize the F3, because of what was missing.... adding 4K wont change that.

    Speculation, on my part, sure.... But that is how I see it going down.
